Manchego Cured 1k


Manchego is Spain’s most famous cheese. Produced in La Mancha in Central Spain, it is made from 100% Manchega sheep’s milk. The Manchego you will buy from The Spanish Hamper is a high quality artisan produced cheese made from pausterized milk.

The cheese has a distinctive zig-zag pattern on the outer rind which is produced from the traditional use of esparto grass molds and wooden presses.

The inedible rind of the cheese ranges in colour from yellow to a mid-brown. The cheese itself is firm, with small holes spread throughout. The abundance of wild herbs in Central Spain’s grazing lands gives Manchego its special taste and aroma. Our Manchego cheese  is matured in a cave for 10-12 months, giving it its superb long and exuberant flavour while the texture is firm but not dry.




This whole cheese weighs approximately 1 kilo. It has a shelf life of 8 months. You will find buying the cheese in this way is not only convenient, the cheese also tastes much better and stays fresher.

This cheese comes vacuum packed, and is best stored in the fridge.

To eat, take it out from the fridge 10 minutes beforehand, and cut it into medium thick slices about 6mm (1/4”) thick.  Eaten as an appetizer before the meal it is complemented perfectly by a glass of Viña Bujanda.

Taste Cured Manchego for the first time and you will be surprised at how long the wonderful flavor lingers on your palate. It is an amazing experience.
